FAIR PLAY

“Fair Play” uses iconic sports images to subvert the idea of fair play. The work features controversial moments such as Robbie Fowler pretending to snort a line of coke, Eric Cantona giving a flying kick to a fan, and Mike Tyson biting Holyfield’s ear. These scenes, taken from the collective imagination, are reinterpreted to show how violence, provocation, and transgression are also part of the sports spectacle. León ironically comments on the supposed purity of sport, revealing its rawest and most human dimension.
