INVOLUTION

Alberto León’s Involution is a direct denunciation, loaded with symbolism. In it, evolution breaks down: from ape to human, but without real progress. Albert Rivera’s cobblestone in the hand of an aggressive ape opens the sequence, followed by gestures of hope—flowers, peace, democracy—that culminate in a transparent ballot box. But the response is a raised baton. Everything happens on a “no entry” sign, as if freedom itself is what is forbidden. It’s a potent satire: when moving forward implies danger, perhaps we have not yet evolved.
