PLAY BOY 2
In this piece set in the 50s-60s, a boy locks himself in the bathroom, sitting on the toilet seat with his pants down, absorbed in reading a Playboy magazine. Above him, a text at the top reads “Dream Lover,” as an ironic declaration of his first dreams and fantasies. While one hand holds the magazine, the other is out of frame, letting the imagination run wild about what he might be doing.
With humor and nostalgia, the work portrays that clandestine and tender moment of childhood sexual awakening, between modesty, curiosity, and secrecy. A universal moment that Alberto León captures with a mixture of tenderness and mischief.
